OMG! I can't believe all that I am reading as I thought that I was the only one.. Someone accessed my account and transferred thousands of dollars out of it. When I emailed customer service (they have no live reps!), they froze my account and now I have no ability to get the money that someone had transferred and there is NO resolution to my stolen money. This is criminal.
HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE! Someone stole my user and password from Venmo and also got into my bank account doing 4 unauthorized transactions $500,$200,$300 and $500 stating rent, obviously I don't pay my rent like that. Two went through but other two were pending for July 1st. I inmediately called my bank to cancel any transaction from Venmo, and warned then about the other transactions. Venmo customer service was horrible. I received answer 2 days later and even though I explained the situation clearly and on time, they wouldn't cancel those transactions and paid the scammer. I just removed my credentials from Venmo just in case, thank God I did because they didn't protect me as their customer.
They frozed my account telling me that I OWE THEM $700 or they will send me to collection.
So now I have to pay money scammers wanted to steal from me. They are imbecile.
I'm calling the police and open a report.

Someone took money out of my bank account. It doesn't show up on my statement. And they will do nothing about it. All they could say was I'm sorry someone walked away with all of your money and your bills are going to bounce. It is no wonder that I never even used my account. I downloaded it and registered it and never touched it after that. I am telling everyone that this site or app is ridiculous. It should have never went into business
Use Zelle.
Venmo hooks you then freezes your account with no notice. You use chat to get help. They know nothing and tell you to email. You email and get no response. Try calling - no human . They redirect you to chat and email.
I’ve used Zelle for a few years with zero problems. Bye bye Venmo. This is a product for teenagers exchanging small dollars and not for adults. If you can’t rely on a company - and can’t get anyone to fix the problem- then the company is worthless.
If I can give a minus 5 I would. I opened an account with Venmo let them in my bank account to verify I am me, then froze my account until I send them my driver's license (specified they need a pictur)e AND last of my bank statement. I decided I will not use a company that requests your bank account and a picture ID (like they will know me from Adam) so I begged them to close the account but they didn't want to do that until they un-freeze it. Why would an honest company (or maybe just some workers in it) want my picture ID AND my bank statement to even close an account that was not even open???? No other people I know using it had to give up their sensitive information
Permanently banned without warning, explanation, or resource. Managed to get responses from several different folks in the "escalations" department, all with the same response: "We can't tell you anything, you are banned forever." This is unethical and ridiculous.
This app is incredibly buggy. There's a page where you can supposedly download your transaction history, but it doesn't work — I keep getting "invalid date" errors when I try to see transactions before the current month. The UI/UX for verifying your identity is unbelievably bad. It costs them that much more to answer customer service calls and emails. Fix the app.
This app has been terrible. My account is frozen with money waiting to be deposited. I was reached out to Via email, and everything was going good until they didn't resolve my issue, and stopped replying to my emails. I can't call a help center either, it will never transfer me.

Do not use. If you send money to the wrong person you can’t get it back. Send a check.
I received an email in January to verify my identity. I got a 2nd email last week it needed to be done by 2/6. I went into the app and verified my identity on 1/30 and it came back we cannot verify your identity and account is restricted. There is NO WAY to get any support from this company. No explanation, no fraudulent charges, and only Venmo a few people and my account is locked. Their chat is useless and all I get told it will take 5-6 days for someone to get back to you. With this type of support I no longer trust the app. I closed my account and will now use Zelle. I laughed when I received an email to apply for the Venmo credit card yesterday after being locked out of my account for the past 5 days. How can you trust an application that handles financial transactions and has NO support. If I could I would give them zero stars.
Horrible customer service. They could careless & if folks rip you off.
In general Venmo is OK but when I got a Venmo Debit Card so I could access my cash with an ATM (my bank does not allow instant transfer) they blocked by Debit Card and would not allow me to withdraw my money from my account. You can't call anyone and the Customer Service person who answered my chat could not do anything to fix the problem.
If people don't use PayPal directly... this is a good 2nd option through the PayPal team.
I use them in the "online marketplace"... on occasion.
